Food Inc.

Everybody can change something, but you relly have to want it

Today I want you to give a look at your eating habits from another point of view. After seeing the Documentary “Food, Inc.” which was produced 2008 from Robert Kenner, you will maybe think about what you eat.
When you think about your food it is not only the product itself. No, there are different parts until it arrives on your table. The first step is the production itself.

In the documentary itself the first part is also the production so it is like daily life, but with one difference, you see not the front of the door, you see the back.
Everything is shown; I just want to name one example, which I guess is enough. In the documentary it is shown how chicken live in a dark stable and under which inhumane conditions they have to life.
And their whole life, is really short, because the industry wants it so the stay there, get their food and then were killed.
Now we comt to the second part which has an influence on your food, the industry. The industry controls everything they give the farmers rules and regulations to which they have to stick otherwise the contract is cancelled.
Here Robert Kenner names two interesting examples on the one hand corn, which is nowadays used for really everything and soy beans. Furthermore he shows us examples of how the industry developed to which it is nowadays; there he names especially the slaughterhouses.
Last but not least the film talks about the political issue. It can be seen really clearly, that many representatives have connections to the food industry.

You may think, how could that be, well it is very easy to answer, nowadays everything is based on money, and everyone buys food so this industry gets a lot of money and with this money they can “buy” themselves power.
Furthermore in the whole documentary there is a family-drama, a woman describes what has happened after her son has eaten some burgers. Unfortunately he died, and then she tries to bring a law through the congress, that the industry should look more after the food they produce, but until now nothing happened.
Well as you can see there are many stages until the food is at you table and in this film they are shown from a very different point of view.
Now you ask yourself, why are they doing such a film? Are they on the site of the food industry and want support them?
No they are not; they want to show the consumer what is going wrong. As you can see in the description the problem is the wrong behaviour of the industry. They try to tell us and show us that there is also a “right” industry next to the normal food industry.
There are the farmers which produce good food with now regulations, but it is a bit more expensive, which the consumer must accept.
I think it is right that the documentary shows us what is going on with the industry. They try to wake us up and show us that there are other possibilities to get our food.

For me it is impossible only to buy the ecological food, because you have to go to many different farmers or stores, and that costs a lot of time. So I think the best solution is to buy, when it is possible food at the farmers, and then the rest from the supermarket, but there you should buy the fair trade products.
Or if you have the possibility you can also plant something in your garden if you have on.
As you can see everyone has the possibility to do something, you must only want to do it, and that is what Robert Kenner wants to show you with his documentary.
The subtitle already says is it: “You’ll never look at dinner the same way.” And that is the motto of the well made documentary it should wake you up and show you that you have to change something. It helps everybody, but everybody must do something.
